Our Guest House is in Tinajo, Nr. La Santa, Lanzarote

Casa Penelope is a purpose built Guest House only 4km from the coast and situated perfectly for exploring the island. The guesthouse is ideal for active visitors looking to get the most out of Lanzarote's outdoor possibilities or even just get to know the 'real Lanzarote'. 5 mins drive downhill is the fishing village of La Santa, with an abundance of coastal walks, beaches and plenty of restaurants. La Santa Club about 1km further along the road. Casa Penelope is the perfect place for Surfers as well, Rob is on hand to provide Surf Safari's and day to day local knowledge of the best breaks. Julie can point you in the direction of dramatic volcano walks only minutes from the guest house.

Guest House Accommodation - Casa Penelope has 3 en-suite twin/double bedrooms - also the whole house is available to rent.

The downstairs rooms, La Izquierda and La Derecha (named after La Santa's world famous surf-breaks) are both spacious with sofa and ceiling fan. Although they don't have cooking facilities we have provided a mini bar area with small fridge, kettle, crockery and cutlery everything you would need to prepare your sandwiches etc.

The en-suite bathrooms have large Canarian style walk-in showers. The upstairs en-suite terrace room is an airy but smaller double room with private terrace and breathtaking views. This room does not have the mini breakfast bar facilities of the two downstairs rooms and is in the main house.

Breakfast is an optional extra taken inside the main house or on the patio. All towels are provided and bed linen changedduring your stay. We also clean your rooms daily to ensure your comfort whilst visiting our beautiful Island of Lanzarote.

Outside
Guests have a private shared patio in our Canarian style garden. With table, umbrella and sunbed sheltered from the wind and catching all the sun, all day long, it's a great spot to plan your day's schedule or enjoy a glass of wine after a day's adventuring. Guests staying upstairs inside the main house have a private roof terrace with incredible views of Lanzarote's volcanic countryside including the stunning Risco de Famara and the islands of the Chinijo Archipelago.
There's a BBQ that guests can use on requestand Julie and Rob will cook dinner on request. (Extra)

Storage
This area of Lanzarote is particularly popular with active people and Casa Penelope has been built with their needs in mind. There is a large lock up garage for guests to store their bikes, surfboards, kites etc leaving your rooms clutter free and a space to rest in. Coast/Beach
5 mins (3kms) drive is the fishing village of La Santa. A surfer's paradise with a small black sand beach near the harbour then behind Club La Santa 1km along the road is your next beach on from that Caleta Caballo, has a wonderful year round bathing beach. Small but with safe high tide swimming for all the family, this is a local favourite. Famara, about 10 mins from Casa Penelope, sits at the foot of a 700m cliff and is the island's most dramatic beach. Pure heaven!

Travel
We are 20 mins from Arrecife Airport and ferry terminal. 40 mins from the inter-island ferry terminals in Orzola and Playa Blanca. A hire car is essential in this area of the island. Cars can be organised prior to your arrival, please enquire.

Distances
Tinajo is an untouched Canarian Village that remains a world apart from tourist centres of the south coast. The locals are friendly and a 'buenas dias' or 'gracias' will bring you smiles. Don't miss the local produce market on Sunday mornings at the Dolores church at the inland end of town.
The fantastic volcanic landscape of the Montanas del Fuego are 10 mins drive as is the wine region of La Geria.
The old capital of Teguise and the current one, Arrecife, are both about 20 mins drive.

Local Information

Tinajo
Tinajo provides a good range of services. There are plenty of local eateries, bars, coffee shops etc. In fact the first restaurant is only 5 minutes walk from Casa Penelope, an Italian! The centre of Tinajo has a bank, chemist, internet, gym and beauty salon and supermarket and a newsagent where you can get international papers. There is also a 24 hour garage.

La Santa
La Santa has more restaurants, international and Spanish and some interesting local bars as does Famara. We are central to the beauty spots such as, Caesar Manrique's House only 20 minutes by car, Timanfaya National Park is right on our doorstep, as is some fantastic volcano walks which we can point you in the right direction, just down the hill in La Santa is the start of some lovely beaches, not all black sand, in fact Famara beach is a white sand beach and 7 km long. If your a runner there are numerous off road trails. You really have to come and stay to realise the opportunity Lanzarote can give to everyone wanting a holiday as simple as relaxing in the sun to surfing and the exercise of your choice. Or sight seeing.
